About Us
We had no experience in dogs, showing or breeding and thanks to Tricia, she guided us on the right path, and introduced us to some very knowledgable people, and the people that we have encountered over the years whose help and advice have been invaluable.
Jacqui was the chairperson of the B.M.D.C. of Ireland, a post which she held for 6 years and also judges the breed. Along with Peter, Jacqui has attended seminars in G.B. and Bernese Health symposiums in Switzerland. Peter was secretary of the Irish Bernese club for 9 years and is an active committe member and also a committee member of Belfast Dog Show Society and Coleraine and District Canine Club. We are members of all of the Bernese Clubs in G.B. and Ireland and are members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeders Scheme.
Currently, there are 7 Bernese in our Kennels, not all of whom are shown, but the ones who are here and are not shown get the same loving attention as the stars in the ring. First and Foremost, they are out pets and companions, and if we are fortunate enough to breed a Champion, that is the icing on the cake.
Our affix, which was granted by the Kennel Club in 1998, came from:

EM from Peter's Surname "Embleton"
COURT from Jacqui's maiden name "Courtney"
We only breed when we feel we need to, for the advantage of our Kennel and hopefully to improve the breed. We endeavour to breed sound, free moving dogs with great temperaments that get as close to the breed standard as possible. We believe in widening our outlook and have ventured into Europe to find what we consider the right breeding to enhance our Kennel and maintain the elevated standard we have set.
Our kennel is the most successful Bernese Kennel in Ireland having 2 Dual Champions, G.B. & Irish, as well as 2 Triple Champions, G.B., Irish & International. We have had an Annual Champion in Ireland in 2000,03,04,05,07,08,09,10 and in 11 we had the Joint Annual Champions, a first for the breed. In 2009, we also had the top winning Bernese in the U.K. Peter has also handled a Leonberger to Irish and International titles. We acquired a Catalan Sheepdog in 2010, the first to reside in Ireland, and she has attained her Irish title of Champion and was Annual Champion in 2011.
Peter has judged widely in G.B. and Ireland, awarding Green Stars in a number of breeds and has had the honour of officiating at the Norwegian Club Championship Show in May 2009...
